Loved seeing Robshaw question the ref two/three times then went one too many and he gave it a stern....

"Erm.... Christopher!?"

Christopher promptly bowed and said "sorry sir" and retreated.

Rooney and the rest could learn a FUCKING lot.

I am left with the overriding feeling that this is a world cup too early for this England group. The lack of experience in the back line in particular has been exposed at crucial moments.
For England I would set my realistic expectation at a semi final place and possibly, dependent on the draw, perhaps a final place

Panch will be strolling around Stratford on the Sunday for Ireland vs Italy.

Surely be able to snag a couple of real tickets?

Can't be missing that.

None of them will fancy playing England at Twickenham.

NONE of them. Think SA & NZ will be too strong for them if they do, BUT they won't fancy it.

Especially with NZ's vast history of pulling a Mama Cass.

The thing in England's favour regarding the home nations is we are the only team with any sort of history of competing with SH teams, we have a history of performing in World Cups, and we'll be playing on our home patch every game. Ireland have NEVER beaten the Kiwis, for example, that's some record.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2015 6 Nations Rugby Chaps Thread
That was the most fantastic climax to any 6 nations campaign I can remember. A feast of running, try scoring rugby that went right to the very last seconds of the final game.

I feel exhausted by the whole event, got to 4 out 5 England games (Missed out on Ireland). It's cost a small fortune financially and physically, liver damaged beyond repair.

Congratulations to Ireland, you deserved it. You beat England decisively and got a big win when you needed it most against the Scotts.

Wales came good as the tournament wore on, only a poor second half against England prevented a Grand Slam... Scotland and Italy are way off the pace, no strength in depth for either team.

As for England yet another case of so near yet so far. The third consecutive 6N they have blown, this time through points left on the pitch against both Scotland and Italy. England were poor against Ireland and magnificent against France.

Is there a team in that group capable of toppling New Zealand?

It was a fantastic tournament that has given us little clue about the challengers fro the RWC but if the standard of rugby and the level excitement is as high in the Autumn then we are on for the best RWC of all time too.

I have no idea Jonah but I am presuming not.
I am guessing that the biggest problem for the Wallabies is that the AFL expansion further into Qld & NSW means that every 16 yo of any sort of size who traditionally would have gone to rugby is being lined up for the easier path of being on the rookie list of AFL clubs.
Is thought to be a problem for some other sports as these kids can earn a reasonable amount for not doing much at all compared to other sports where the money is only much further up the scale of achievement.
For example a kid who is talented at cricket and AFL has a much easier path in the latter.

I think some of the reason for poor Wallabies crowds is that they have scheduled Tests in Melbourne, Perth & the Gold Coast in an attempt to fight back against the expansion of Australian Rules into their Territories.
Need to concentrate on their traditional cities of Brisbane & Sydney.

I've been saying we play each other too many times for ages. We play Australia about 4 times a year now, and then generally have a 3 test series against a weakened NH side around June which proves nothing, then generally go up and hand out the annual grand slam thrashing in November.

I'm bored of playing the same teams all the time and I'm bored of seeing almost unhindered NZ dominance really. I'd much rather chuck it all in and go back to proper tours, where endurance is tested as opposed to flitting from city to city each week and playing one game.

Of course, that would only work for/in NZ if other teams were able to reliably compete, which right now, you'd say that not many would fancy a 6-8 week tour here with provincial games and 3 tests as well.

I'd like to see the end of year trip expanded to be a proper tour as well.

As for the financial side, you're bang on. NZ can't compete financially, especially with the French who seem to be able to purchase players with impunity, but the black shirt is still a huge pull for young players. Our policy of not selecting foreign-based players has to remain though, to ensure that those who are likely yo play, remain.

Unfortunately, we are losing the 2nd/3rd tier players who give us our traditional depth, because they see their path to the AB's blocked, and know they can get a good deal overseas which will set them up for a few years. We don't tend to lose many top line players in their prime, although there have been some exceptions - Carl Hayman, Jerome Kaino, Nick Evans for example.

Can't blame them for going really, but, it doesn't really benefit anyone except the player - NZ loses depth, and French/English/Welsh/Irish/Scottish competition is further diluted.

I don't know what the answer is, but something has to give. I'm not sure how much NZ can actually do, because reversing the non-selection of overseas players will destroy our local game as all the big boys leave for the riches on offer in Europe, and to a lesser extent, Japan.

As for Australia, their stadiums aren't full, because for the last few years, the Wallabies have been shit. If they started winning regularly again, they'd soon fill up again.

England, Wales and Ireland all achieved about the same. The last day was odd because they all went for the scores which is very unusual. Shows what great sport and entertainment it makes. Still, they had little to lose.

Will any of these three beat the best of the southern hemisphere? I doubt it.
